Welcome to Our Nursery

What makes us unique?

  • Millie’s Mark was awarded to little steps Academy as a special endorsement due to us going above and beyond these minimum requirements by having 100% of our staff trained in paediatric first aid and ensuring that everything learned during the award is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners’ minds so that they are confident, ready, and capable. When little Steps Academy  was awarded the  Millie’s Mark accreditation, this provided reassurance for all our  parents that all our childcare practitioners within the nursery, know what to do in a paediatric first aid situation.
  • We have been also awarded the District Language Champion, in which covers the wards of Acocks Green, parts of Bordesley Green, Garretts Green, parts of Glebe Farm and Tile Cross, parts of Hall Green North, Sheldon, parts of Small Heath, parts of Sparkbrook and Balsall Heath East, South Yardley, Tyseley and Hay Mills, Yardley East, and Yardley West and Stechford. We are supporting all these nurseries to build relationships, work together and support one another; particularly with the ongoing challenges that we are presented in promoting speech and language amongst children.
  • We also complete a Wellcomm programme within Little Steps Academy, it is a complete speech and language toolkit, from screening to intervention, enabling our language champion to identify children needing support quickly and easily.
  • We have two highly qualified level 3 Special Educational Needs coordinators in Early Years, both practitioners within the Nursey are very highly experienced in providing the best Educational outcomes for your children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Within Little Steps Academy, we are trained to use, Makaton symbols and signs. This is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs, and speech to enable children to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.
  • We have a trained practitioner, who specialises in teaching English to children and families where English is an additional language.
  • We have within Little Steps Academy, one highly experienced Child Councillor, in which supports children’s’ mental health and their wellbeing.
  • Alongside our Child Councillor, we have a further two highly trained practitioners, that support children and their families, who have experienced, physical, mental, and emotional trauma.
  • We have two highly experience Designated Senior leads, who support practitioners around child protection. Within the nursery, we have highly experience room safeguarding leads.
