At Little Steps, we highly value the need for outdoor play. Our children have access to the outdoors in all weathers.
Our children are encouraged to take risks and managed their own choices, when exploring in the outdoors, all closely supervised and supported! Outdoor play encourages children to explore the natural world and is ideal for supporting their physical development.
Why is the outdoor area so important?
The freedom of playing outdoors is great fun for young children – running, climbing, jumping, and exploring and it is also critical for children’s development.
Playing and learning outside, also helps children to understand and respect nature, the environment and the interdependence of humans, animals, plants, and lifecycles. The outdoor environment offers space and therefore is particularly important to those children who learn best through active movement.
